Amberliegh was formed when Sakumoh Dance Troupe (established in September 1989) and Drum & Dance Group merged under the former organisation’s charity number 801754 in 2007. Services were rationalised and integrated as follows:
- Saturday morning drum and music session for parents and carers with babies and toddlers with special needs, disabled and able bodied
- Saturday morning Drum and Dance Session for children age 5 - 7 yrs at The Chestunuts Community Hall, The Chestnut Estate, Highbury Grange, Islington
- Saturday Drum and Dance session for 8+ year olds which had been running at The Chestunuts Community Hall, The Chestnut Estate, Highbury Grange, Islington
Name Changed from Sakumoh Dance Troupe to Amberliegh in Sept 2007.
The name Amberliegh was chosen in memory of 2 children. Leah Amber, who passed away at 6 months old from SIDS
and Billie Jordan who passed away at 14 years from Leukaemia.
Using the two names, Leah amber and Billie Jordan, were combined to form AMBERLIEGH, sounding Amberllie.
